Is your campus accessible for students in a wheelchair or who use other mobility aids ?

Our three campuses (Valencia, Gandia, Alcoy) are quite accessible in the majority of common areas and services, as well as in lecture rooms.

Are there any lecture halls with hearing loops for students with hearing impairment?

Yes, but not in every School/Faculty and in very classroom. If UPV is informed well ahead of time, it can be arranged for a particular student.

How and when should an exchange student apply for support during his/her studies?

Students must contact the international office of their UPV host School/Faculty, minimum 2 months before arrival. The staff of the International Office of your host School/Facultyat UPV will contact the Unit for Support to Students with Disabilities and establish a link with the student.

What are the requirements or documents to be provided (medical documentation or certificates)?

  • Report or document describing the student's disability, condition or impairment. The document must also contain specific details about pedagogical needs and adaptations required. If this assessment has already been performed and documented at the home institution, UPV will do its best to provide equivalent support.
  • Maximum 2 years old, in English or Spanish
  • Signed by a legitimate medical expert (doctor, psychologist, speech therapist, or staff working in Unit for Support to Students with Disabilities / Special Learning needs in the home university)

Will UPV cover all the costs ?

This is decided on a case-by-case basis. Students coming through the Erasmus+ programme and who have obtained additional Erasmus funds through their home university for students with disabilities will be expected to cover some costs from these funds in some cases: i.e. a sign language interpreter
