Current trends in society and in the labour market require the application of science and technology to the field of linguistics. Learning about the latest research methods and the use of information and communications technology (ICT) for language teaching, research, translation and text correction is essential to develop these fields and to improve the quality of language researchers and professionals.
This master's degree, developed entirely in the Polytechnic University of Valencia, has a two-pronged professional and research approach that caters to the needs of students in both the didactic and the pure research aspects. On the one hand, it uses innovative methods to address ways of developing a professional career, making use of available technological resources. On the other hand, it prepares students for a research career in the field of applied linguistics, incorporating advances in computational linguistics.

The aim of this course is to train specialists that are able to transfer research results to teaching practice and other professional environments, such as technical communication, linguistic consulting, translation, processing and analysis of teaching materials for computer-assisted language learning. Another of its objectives is the planning and implementation of a project of introduction to applied research. This degree course also aims to adapt the student's skills to today's job market by strengthening specialisations tailored to the needs of business.
Graduates with degrees in Languages (German, Catalan, French, Spanish, English and Italian), Translation and Interpreting, Pedagogy, Teaching (Spanish and Foreign Languages), Humanities, Journalism and Psychology, Audiovisual Communication, Computer Sciences, and engineers. Graduates from related fields who wish to broaden their education with instruction in the scientific and technological advances of applied linguistics.
The admission and selection procedure for students with any of the aforementioned qualifications will be based on their academic record, the subjects studied in the degree that relate to the subjects taught on the master's degree course, teaching or research merits and a personal interview, if necessary.
