Presentation of the degree

The Double Degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering + Food Science and Technology aims to train professionals who integrate the skills of agricultural and biological engineering with those of food science and technology. In this way it intends to meet the demands of the agri-food sector, as its graduates will have a solid training in all the links of the agri-food chain, from the production of raw materials and the management of agricultural and livestock infrastructures to the development, conservation, processing, packaging, distribution and use of safe, nutritious and healthy food.

Career opportunities

Professionals in this area must be able to address challenges along the entire value chain involved in food production and distribution. Therefore, the combination of both degrees generates a graduate profile of particular value to the agri-food sector: an engineer specialising in food science and technology. Such graduates will be very competitive in terms of their employability in the agri-food industry, a sector of great economic importance at present.

International mobility and internships

The UPV School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment (ETSIAMN) has agreements with some of the best European and American universities. Thanks to these, more than 200 students spend a period abroad and around 300 come to València from other countries, which reflects the high degree of internationalisation of this double degree.

ETSIAMN also facilitates internships in companies and institutions, and sends around 650 students each year to 300 companies in different sectors.

Continuation of studies

This double degree allows its graduates to access the Master's Degree in Agricultural Engineering (which in turn qualifies its own graduates to exercise the regulated profession of agricultural engineer) and other master's degrees related to the food industry: Food Science and Engineering, Food Safety and Quality Management, and Oenology.
