Introduction and objectives

The Master's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering is a degree that enables the profession of Telecommunication Engineer, regulated by law by order CIN 355/2009. The Master's degree trains and allows specialising in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, virtual and augmented reality, microelectronics, radio frequency engineering, photonics and quantum, web programming or network virtualisation.

Among all these disciplines, cybersecurity is the one that has had an increasing relevance in recent times. In June 2021, according to an analysis by Logicalis Spain, the first three months of 2021 saw a 366% growth in the recruitment of cybersecurity specialists. In response to this growing demand, the UPV launched the Master's Degree in Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence. Its supply-demand ratio in 2021/2022 was 303%.

The double Master's degree allows for dual degrees with significant savings on credits taken. Out of 174 credits, 60 would be on cybersecurity and cyberintelligence issues; the rest would be 66 credits from the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, plus 30 ECTS and 18 from the corresponding Master's thesis. This means a saving of 36 credits compared to completing the titles separately.

Master's structure

- 1st year (60 ECTS): Exactly coincides with the first year of the Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering: http://www.upv.es/titulaciones/MUITEL/menu_1015031c.html

- 2nd year (66 ECTS):

• 12 ECTS of the MUIT compulsory courses that remain to be studied (codes 35485 and 35481)
• 54 ECTS of the first year of the Master's Degree in Cybersecurity and Cyberintelligence. All the modules of Common Subjects (first year of the MUCC) except for the course 34875, "Cybersecurity Incident Management", which will be recognised by the course of the MUIT 35480 "Cybersecurity". - 3rd year (48 ECTS): The final Master's thesis of the MUIT (Code 33463, 30 ECTS) and the final Master's thesis of the MUCC (Code 34888, 18 ECTS) are carried out.


Admission criteria

Admission to the MUIT double master's degree with the MUCC goes through pre-registration and admission to the latter. The requirement to pre-register in the MUCC under the dual-degree modality is to have passed 60 ECTS in the MUIT. Any MUIT student who meets this requirement can formalise pre-registering for the MUCC within the established deadlines. It will ultimately be the Academic Committee of the MUCC that, analysing the student's academic progression, will decide on the admission of the student to this Master's under the modality of double degree.
